According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a multiple-player trade.
Miami will send shortstop Jose Reyes, pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle, catcher John Buck, and infielder-outfielder Emilio Bonafacio to Toronto. In return the Marlins will be receiving Yunel Escobar, top prospects Jake Marisnick (outfield) and Adeiny Hechevarria (shortstop), and possibly more.
Reyes and Buehrle were brought to Miami just last year. The two signed $106 million and $58 million contracts, respectively. Johnson has been one of the National League’s top pitchers in the past five years; although the righty had a down season in 2012, he compiled a 29-12 record between 2009 and 2011.
